Kehinde Ariyo a 29 year old was on Monday paraded by the Osun State Police Command for allegedly raping of an 85-year-old woman in Ilesa, Osun State. Amiloaded gathered that the State's Commissioner of Police, Mr Fimihan Adeoye who paraded the suspect said Ariyo raped the aged woman until she passed out, adding that the woman was later resuscitated at a hospital. CP Adeoye who noted that the old wonam sustained injury during the process said that she is responding to treatment in the hospital. Adeoye assured that the suspect would be prosecuted after necessary investigation. While fielding questions from journalists, the suspect, Ariyo said he was coming from a night party and that he needed a place to sleep over. Ariyo added that he pleaded with the woman to allow him stay in her place till the morning and that the old woman oblige him.

Police in Enugu State have arrested a 22-year-old lady, Tina Rebecca Sunday, for allegedly killing her uncle, one Friday Mathew. The incident occurred in the Independence Layout area of Enugu on Thursday, October 26, 2017, reports Nigerian Monitor . It was gathered that the lady, Tina, a native of Ikot Udobang Ukanafon, in Akwa Ibom State, lived with the now deceased uncle in Ezilo Street, Independence Layout, Enugu. It was further gathered that Tina was arrested by operatives of the New Haven police station, Enugu, while attempting to escape, after committing the crime. Residents of Ibokun, Ibokun Local Government Area of Osun State have been in serious confusion after an alleged food poison claimed three lives. It was gathered that the three died after eating yam flour, also known as Amala in the local parlance. About eight people were said to have consumed the local delicacy, with four of them still lying critically i ll in the hospital. The corpses of the deceased have since been deposited at the morgue belonging to the Osun State General Hospital at Asubiaro in Osogbo, for further medical investigation. The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday awarded N40m to the President of Chocolate City Group, Audu Maikori, as compensation for his unlawful arrest and detention between February 17 and 18, 2017 and again March 10 and 13, 2017. Delivering judgement in the fundamental human rights enforcement suit filed by Maikori on May 5, 2017, Justice John Tsoho ordered the four respondents including, Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, and the police to pay the damages to the applicant. The judge also directed the respondents to pay the sum of N1,430 to the applicant as the cost of instituting the suit. But the judge noted that his judgement was not meant to interfere with the ongoing trial of Makori in Kaduna. He also ruled that the police could justifiably arrest suspects for allegedly violating the law and order on the cyberspace. These include two cases each in Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom States, one in Enugu State and one in the Federal Capital Territory, making it a total of nine confirmed cases of Monkeypox in Nigeria. Dr Ehanire who announced this today in his office said investigations are ongoing to see if any of the new cases have a link with the Bayelsa cluster, where the outbreak started. He called for calm among members of the public, as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is working with all affected States to ensure case finding and adequate management. He added that as frightening as the manifestation of the ailment may seem, no fatality has been recorded to date. In an aggressive drive towards shoring up its revenue base, the Federal Government has through Nnamdi Dimgba, a judge of the Federal High Court, Abuja, secured an order granting temporary forfeiture of funds kept in accounts without Bank Verification Number (BVN) and whose ownership could not be clearly identified, to it. Also granted was an order to seize funds held in bank accounts “with insufficient Know Your Customer (KYC) guidelines”. The order which followed an originating motion of notice filed by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, on behalf of the Nigerian government on September 28, was issued on October 17. The current trending update as more than 100 Nigerian students on scholarship in the United Kingdom universities could be deported home as early as this week except their fees are settled immediately, according to The Telegraph of London. Fresh update reveals that the students are said to be sponsored by a regional agency and some of them are saddled with debts of up to £20,000. The name of the sponsor agency was not given in the report. The report described the students as “some of the Nigeria’s brightest undergraduates. ”They have been told that they will not receive their degree certification even though many of them completed their courses in the last academic year. The federal government says three suspected samples of the deadly Monkeypox virus sent to Senegal for testing, have been confirmed. The Minister Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, made this announcement at a press briefing in Abuja on Monday. The federal government sent the samples for analysis at the World Health Organisation’s laboratory in Dakar, Senegal. Forty three suspected cases have been reported from eight states, namely, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ekiti, Lagos, Enugu, Nasarawa, Rivers, and FCT, with Bayelsa having the highest number. The minister said 21 samples were sent to Dakar for confirmation, with four coming from Lagos. Samples from Lagos turned out negative. Of the 17 samples from Bayelsa, three were positive, 12 negative and two results still outstanding.
